Mijn liefde voor sport is groot! Het mooie is dat door te sporten het karakter wordt versterkt en dat heeft mij in commercie weer geholpen om veerkracht, focus en vastberadenheid op te bouwen.
De overeenkomst tussen sport en sales wordt in mijn beleving zichtbaar in de film ‘Any Given Sunday’, in de speech ‘Game of Inches’ (zie link). Hieronder wat delen uit deze speech waar ik de inspiratie uit haal op het gebied van sales, leiderschap, team en mentaliteit.
“You find out life’s this game of inches. So is football (sales). Because in either game, life or football (sales), the margin for error is so small — I mean one-half second too slow, you don’t quite catch (close) it. The inches we need are everywhere around us. They’re in every break of the game. On this team, we fight for that inch, because we know when we add up all those inches that’s gonna make the difference between winning and losing! I’ll tell you this: In any fight, it’s the guy who’s willing to die who’s gonna win that inch. I know if I’m gonna have any life anymore, it’s because I’m willin’ to fight and die for that inch. Because that’s what livin’ is! The six inches in front of your face!! That’s football (sales) guys.”
